Don’t Skip The Details: Why They Matter On Your Wedding Day
You’ve spent months (maybe even years) planning every detail of your wedding day, from the perfect shade of ribbon on your bouquet to the vintage watch passed down from your grandfather. As a wedding photographer, it’s my job to make sure every one of those thoughtful touches is remembered forever.
How Long Do Wedding Detail Photos Take?
Capturing wedding day detail photos typically takes about 30 minutes. I usually photograph details first thing in the morning while you’re getting ready—it’s a calm, creative way to begin the day and helps set the tone for your entire wedding gallery.
What to Include in Your Wedding Detail Photos
To make the most of your wedding detail photography, consider gathering the following items ahead of time:
Bride and groom rings (plus a ring box, if you have one)
Invitation suite (envelopes, RSVP cards, stamps, etc.)
Shoes, perfume, and lipstick
Jewelry (earrings, bracelets, cufflinks, etc.)
Groom’s tie or bow tie
Florals (including any extra stems your florist can provide)
Sentimental or heirloom items
Any small, personal details you’re excited to show off
Don’t worry if everything isn’t perfectly styled for a flat lay. I often photograph details in their natural environment throughout the day—rings resting on a vow book, perfume on a vanity, shoes placed near your dress. These organic moments help tell your story in an authentic, meaningful way.
Capturing Ceremony & Reception Space Details

In addition to personal details, I also photograph your ceremony and reception spaces before guests arrive. You’ve poured so much heart into creating a beautiful atmosphere, and documenting these spaces in their untouched, picture-perfect state ensures none of that effort goes unnoticed.
Final Thoughts
Every element you choose plays a role in your wedding day story. Your details are more than just beautiful—they reflect who you are, where you come from, and what matters most. They deserve to be remembered.
